HSN (Harmonized System of Nomenclature) is an internationally standardized system of names and numbers to classify traded products. Developed by the World Customs Organization (WCO), HSN codes are used by more than 200 countries. In India, HSN codes are mandatory for GST invoices to classify goods and determine the applicable GST rate.
SAC (Services Accounting Code) is a classification system used under GST in India to identify and categorize services. Similar to HSN codes for goods, SAC codes help determine the correct GST rate applicable to each service category. Every service provider must mention the appropriate SAC code on their GST invoices.
